Tues 5th February 2020 Jennifer O'Cooney from Walkability came to collaborate with our Green School Committee to discuss the Road Safety in our locality. In our investigation we spotted some positive things such as a pathway between the church, local shop and our school. Plenty of parking spaces outside the school, church, local shop and graveyard, including spaces for wheelchair users and parking for emergency vehicles such as ambulances, Garda cars etc. We also found some hazards in our locality/village, such as faded road markings, therefore unaware drivers may speed through causing accidents. Cracked pathway, in which passersby may trip causing injury and may prove difficult for wheelchair users. Overgrown weeds, prove a challenge to walk by and dangerous bends. We spotted some possible changes for our village like renewed road markings and speed signs. Dips in pathways for people with wheelchairs and buggy's and potholes to be fixed. Overall we hop for a safe environment.
