There are three teachers in charge of the Green Flag Committee, Mrs Kelly, Ms Hanrahan and Mrs Moite. Article by Jennifer O' Reilly (6th Class) We have a meeting every second week to see how people are doing on their jobs and if we need anything else to be done. So far we have done energy slogans, what Ireland would be like in 2040, we cleaned all around the school, which we did quite well and every month we do class of the month which is where when break is over we all line up and the best line gets a point so whoever wins has a pizza party! I have to go around the classrooms at big break with Jessica Huszar and Brianna Lawlor to check if the classroom is saving energy by turning the lights off, the door shut and the windows open or vice versa or they can both be closed. At the end of the month, because there is six classrooms, the classroom with the most points gets six points on class of the month and the classroom that comes second gets five points and so on. Lauren Cullen has to check the meter every Wednesday at big break and she writes it down in a book to see if the school is saving energy. Even though we got two new rooms and a corridor, we are saving more energy than what we saved last year! Megan Atkinson, Isobelle Codd and Joanne Caroll have a job to check the bins. They check the bins at big break every day. The classroom with the most points gets an extra point on class of the month. Next week is energy week so we will have a green day where we will have to wear something green. We are in the middle of organising a poem that will have to be about energy and the environment. A woman came in a while ago to check that everything was going well and that we were saving energy. Everything was successful and we received the Green School flag. This is our second time receiving the Green School flag as we got it in 2011. We will put it up some day in June and the sixth class can come and see it being put up as they were part of the committee.
